Andrew and I have decided to check on the rabbits we're growing in the vegetable garden once a day. That also means daily photos until they don't want to be near us. I have a feeling vegetable names will be given to these rabbits at some point!
In just a day the litter of kits has grown. Their ears are bigger as well as their bodies. They were more active today as well. I'd really like to know exactly when they were born so we knew how old they are.
After they were uncovered they all tried to bury their heads as if they didn't like the light shining in on their dark nest. It's still hard to tell if there are more than four in the group. Already today they had to be more on top of each other rather than next to each other like they were yesterday.
We even saw who we assume is mom. A rabbit went into the garden area and was there for a while. So it's good to know that she doesn't care that we've been peeking at her kids. And here is a picture of the replanted weeds strategically placed by Andrew to protect the nest.
We've got lots of wildlife just in our own yard. We still see deer almost every night. Digger the groundhog has been around too, although we haven't seen any young. The usual birds come to the feeders as well. And there's a family of crows that has taken to eating in the front yard. It looks to be two parents and two kids. One of the assumed adults sits in a nearby tree while the others are on the ground. The two "babies", who are just as big as their parents, still beg for food and wait to be fed. But we've also seen them eat on their own so it seems as though they're still looking for a free ride whenever possible.
