Run and Photo Shoot at the Nature Preserve
Since I had a doctor's appointment this morning I took Andrew to work and had the car all day. Today should have been a day off from working out but with the looming potential for snow and even colder temps I decided that I wanted to get out today and rest tomorrow. I wanted to check out the Bradford Dickinson White Nature Preserve, which Andrew found yesterday. I picked Andrew up from work and brought a change clothes for him and we hit the trail on our way home.
I figured that I'd be slow and achy today after a long workout on Sunday and a slightly longer than usual walk yesterday. Plus I haven't run on trails in a long time. In the past I've run for a few minutes here and there but nothing constant. The trail is roughly half a mile one way. I ended up running one way without stopping, although I did slow down to jump over fallen trees in the way. And at one point I almost fell after tripping over something hidden by leaves. I was able to catch my balance without stopping, which is a good thing since Andrew was right behind me. Had I stopped he would have run me over.
Once I got to the end of the trail I walked back. There weren't any huge hills but the terrain was "bumpy" enough! Andrew ran back to the start of the trail and then back to me. Although he did try and stalk me by watching me as I walked and then got behind me. I heard his footsteps so he wasn't able to scare me.
When we arrived at the car I got the camera and walked part of the trail again. Andrew came with me part of the way and then he left me to run home (about four miles) from the nature preserve. I continued to wander around and take photos. I walked along the stream and eventually climbed a big hill to walk among some pine trees.
On my way back down the hill I took a different route and came across a lot of deer fur. It looked like a bunch of deer had spent the night by the stream.
When I got back to the car I saw that Andrew had been there. Had he had the plush mallard duck I'm sure Stubs would have been left as well.
