I'm finally getting around to taking and posting some photos of the store. We're still waiting for some dog related human things to come in, some middle of the road (in price) leashes and collars to be ordered, and some new dog toys to arrive but otherwise the store is full. We'll continue to look for new things to add as time goes on but the major stocking is complete and the store is set up.
We think that things look good. We've received a lot of comments from people who were here when Mel ran things. They all seem to like the more open layout. They also like looking at the boutique type items that Doubledog Design has set up and stocks (although I run things through the register and pay her each month for what's purchased). Below are some photos. If you look at these in my Flickr set you'll see notes on many of them pointing out various things.
We're close to having our logo finalized. We'll be able to order business cards! Our Grand Opening will be February 15th and 16th. We'll be working on planning that as well as continuing to work on getting our website up and running. We're eager to get online sales available!
This is either Gordon or Garth. His brother is also white and without seeing the tail I don't know who is who. Whoever this is is stalking his brother. These two cats played and played today at the Critter Cottage. Vicky is working the half day that the store is open on Monday so today was my last day working this year. I thought it was fitting to have one last Critter Cottage cats as a photo of the day.
We had all three at the Critter Cottage today. Yesterday the sign in front was finally lit. A VPC volunteer donated the money for the electrical work to be done. Andrew and I donated the lights. We have light!
I always have the camera with me so I had to take a photo. The sign looks really good lit up. It has been needed for a while now.
And there was a lot of action at the store today. Quite a few people looking for Christmas gifts. Makes me wonder how busy we'll be tomorrow. I'll be working on my own so it could be interesting.
I had the two feet today and my helper Bonnie had the four feet. I watched Bonnie at the store for a couple of hours while waiting for her new owners to adopt her. She was a pretty good puppy and didn't get into trouble. She even liked hanging out on the counter by the laptop. She didn't do much work though.
Although the name of our company is cool and creative I've quickly learned that it's like having a last name that you have to spell out for people.
Rather than telling people to make checks out to 2 Feet 4 Paws I can point to this sign. Many people gave me odd looks when I told them how to make out the check and that the two and four are digits.
Thanksgiving weekend we got six crates from Andrew's grandparents' farm. They're over 50 years old back when my FIL's family had an apple orchard. We were looking for something like this to use at the Critter Cottage. Grandma S. had a "sale" in her basement and we were able to "purchase" some crates.
I knew that I wanted to set up the rollios in the crates. There are small ones on the top and bigger ones on the bottom. And to top off the crates I put the Nature Nosh organic treats up there, which have been selling well.
